Confused between Warranty and Guarantee ?
In recent years Online purchase is preferred by young generation.Almost all sort of things are available on a single click on our door steps.While doing online transactions we all often get confused between Warranty and Guarantee. Warranty is written assurance given by manufacturer to the buyer of a product for repair or replacement of a product within a specified time period. Warranty card is issued by a seller for the product he sales. Warranty is active from date of sale as mentioned on warranty card.
Guarantee is a promise or assurance by a manufacturer confirming specific quality or operation performance for a specific period of time with certain atmospheric conditions.In case of certain services, customer satisfaction is one of factors covered as a Guarantee.
Warranty is always given in written form and it is more specific in nature while Guarantee may be written or oral and general in nature.
Warranty is applicable to any type of consumable product whereas Guarantee is applicable to any type of product,service or any person also.
Warranty comes with extra charges or cost which a buyer has to pay while purchase of a product. There are no extract charges for Guarantee as such. Electronic goods like oven, refrigerator,Laptop etc.. comes with extended warranty with some extra charges. which a buyers pays to manufacturer.
In case of Warranty the sale of product is compulsory condition and it is of long term in nature. There may or may not be a condition of sale in case of Guarantee and it's nature varies from item to item.
Refund of money in case of any default within specified conditions is possible in case of Guarantee but it is not possible in case of product Warranty.
After looking over above aspects about Warranty and Guarantee we can say that to some extent both terms look alike as they talk about quality or performance of a product but they are not the same.
